"Don't do this." Matt reached out for him. The blond snatched his arm away quickly. He didn't need the added guilt from Matt.
"Mels, please." The redheaded pleaded behind him.
Mello slid the familiar leather over his arms. It was like wrapping a protective layer of skin around him. With it on, nothing would touch him again. No insults, no taunts and especially no death. The word almost choked him. It couldn't be. It just wasn't possible.

"Dammit!" Mello shouted, the last of his books spilling to the floor. Snickers were heard all around as other students shuffled past him.
It was the second time his books had been sent to the ground. And not even that, but it was by the same person. This time, the albino freak bent to pick up the scattered materials. Mello could have punched him or worse. Had it not been for the faculty members stalking the halls, he would have done so. Instead, unbridled anger coursed through him as he reached out for his things.
